From Tires to Canvas

Since the age of three, artist Thomas Yang’s happiness was depended entirely on sketching. While he was growing up his talent started to gain more recognition and finally in 1998, at a young age, he won the Best New Art Director award which was a huge step for his career. As it soon became clear this was only the beginning since he had also won awards in important events such as D&AD, The One Show, Cannes, Clio, Adfest and the Spikes.

However, Thomas’s love was not entirely devoted to art. The bike, as he has stated many times, is what he is also passionate about and it was the reason that inspired Thomas to create one of his most successful projects. Using only bike tires in the same way a stamp works, he printed on 100 posters all the well-known architectural sites of towns such as New York, Paris, London and Beijing. In his official website not only can we come across his famous project 100 copies, but after contacting the artist there is a chance of purchase.

Except this specific project, Thomas has also designed graphic tees, tote bags, stickers as well as campaigns against breast cancer and on behalf of safe driving on bike.
