Jordan Eagles is a New York-based artist that preserves blood from slaughter houses in order to create his paintings. His artwork tries to “evoke the connections between life, death, body, spirit, and the Universe…”

Eagles encases the blood in plexiglass and UV resin. He manipulates the blood to create various effects and appearances, calling to mind the rituals surrounding death and preservation.

He preserves the blood’s natural colors, patterns and textures while layering the blood at different densities as well as heating and burning it. The artist mixes copper with the blood and illuminates it from within letting it become translucent, embossed glowing and casting shadows and projecting an eerie glow to appear as though they are illuminated from within.
