An impressive duplex with a view of the Thermaic Gulf in northern Greece

This contemporary duplex in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece was renovated per the request of the owners, a young couple that wants to start a family according to the Design Milk website. The project was handled by Normless architecture studio. The objective was for the two-floor structure to be transformed into a functional, warm and cozy home.

The designers responded to that request by taking advantage of every square meter (93 to be in fact) of the duplex and changing the layout in order to open up the space, let sunshine in and improve its functionality. The ground floor included the commonly used spaces, kitchen, living room, guest room and a bathroom while on the next floor we see two main bedrooms and another bathroom.

Rich blue cabinets are placed on the kitchen walls and the room is finished with warm wood and black details. The architects chose a gentle colour scheme of white, black and grey hues for all the rooms of the duplex with a few notes of green and blue.

The cool colours are warmed up by the abundance of natural light that the new arrangement of the house allows to come through. The choice of wood as the dominant material for the internal structure as well as the furniture accentuates the homeliness of the duplex.
