Halcyon Selects: Niki and The Dove – Tomorrow

Niki and The Dove, an electropop trio from Sweden, created a buzz around them last year thanks to their single “The Fox”, which gained huge attention from music blogs and press, emerging some great expectations about a forthcoming debut album from them. After that, they released their first EP titled “The Drummer” gaining some very good reviews, while they also appeared in many music festivals around Europe. The peak moment in their career came when the BBC announced that the trio had been nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll, to which they ultimately finished in fifth place. An element that makes them differ among other new artists is the singular, stirring and visionary kind of music they make. The inspiration for this comes from their love about painting, especially 19th century Russian art, the feeling of it they’re trying to interpret through their music arrangements, trying to propose a new sound, which they call flamboyant pop. Their debut album “Instinct”, is one of the most anticipated ones of the year and is due out on 14 May via Sub Pop and Mercury Records. In the meanwhile, a new video clip was published a couple of days ago for their new single “Tomorrow”, which is actually a very good sample of what we’re going to hear, since it is also the opening song of the album.
