Maison Martin Margiela’s “Couture” collection, “Artisanal”, re-evaluates the sense of the term “value” in fashion. Artisanal is a mix of seasons and trends, textiles and materials of different value. The collection tries to focus on this antithesis while a mesmerizing outcome walks down the catwalk, leaving us in awe. MMM’s collection wins us over with its new approach to raw materials that culminated by featuring a Gauguin painting in a coat and an old rescue blanket combined with silk scarves from a 1930s brothel and more. The models walked with their faces covered, with a bit creepier look that the last time, but rather beautiful.
