Each Rick Owens show seems to surpass the previous one. Today at his Paris Fashion Week show, models came down the runway with other women strapped upside-down to their bodies, their limbs hanging limply. These people were tied to their torsos like rucksacks.
Many were those who attempted to interpret the vision of the designer. Some believed that the message he wanted to transmit is the objectification of people influenced by artist Allen Jones. In this case, however, Owens wanted to comment on the incredible female strength and sisterhood – the weights women have to carry, their ability to support and nurture each other.
The Show was accompanied by the song “The Exodus Song” by singer Eska, which added a cinematic sense of melancholy in the process.
