Where are you from?
Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.

When did you start ‘Culture & Journal’ and what inspired you?
About a year and a half ago, after visiting NY for the first time. I was really moved by this city and the people, so I took a lot of pictures. After that I just wanted to create a place where I could show them. That is how I started.

Why did you choose the name ‘Culture & Journal’?
I can capture the different cultures through street fashion. I want to share this with the rest of the world as a journal.

Apart from your blog, are there any magazines or websites you contribute to?
Fashionsnap.com. And a Japanese website.

What gear do you use? (i.e. camera, lens, speed, aperture, etc).
A Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 85mm, F1.8 lens.

Where do you usually shoot?
In SOHO and in Williamsburg.

What is the style that you look for when shooting in the street?
People who have a certain individuality. People whose styles subjects you to some kind of “atmosphere”.

How would you define fashion?
It is the way we define ourselves.

Describe your personal style.
Casual, comfortable, Tokyo influenced.

What are you wearing now? (As in the picture attached).

Where do you shop your own wardrobe?
Vintage shops.

What do you like in New York?
There are a lot of people who have power and passion. They make me happy and impress me all the time.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I want to get to know and share the culture of the city I like.
