50 Years Of Antwerp’s Fashion Department

Such academy is considered one of the most prestigious schools of fashion and graphic design in Europe. For 50 years, the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, celebrates the style of westernized degradation that was so thoroughly established by the six of Antwerp (Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Walter Van Beirendonck, Marina Yee , Dirk Bikkembergs) and Martin Margiela. The 50 years of operation of the department, was a chance for a retrospective to be hosted at MoMu, entitled “50 years of the Antwerp Fashion Department,” which will take place   from Sunday, September 8, 2013 up to February 16, 2014. Along with the 50th anniversary of the Fashion Department, the Academy is celebrating 350 years of operation, for it’s the fourth oldest school in the world. Throughout the exhibition, one can see a series of clothers from both the graduates and the Antwerp 6, while a presentation of the alumni’s programm shall take place.
