Chanel Fall 2014: The dangerous Step

CHA_0055.450x675

Chanel’s Spring show took place in a supermarket. Grand Palais was turned into a megastore by Karl Lagerfeld with shelves full of colourful bottles and thousands of popular items, labeled with the Chanel logo. Lagerfeld turned the chic Chanel house into an ode to consumerism making ripped trousers and trainers the ultimate high-end fashion gear.

“If you want to look really ridiculous, you go in stilettos in a supermarket,” he said. “That’s exactly what I wanted to show.” He may have managed to be the talk of the fashion world and make a revolutionary suggestion but is this version of Chanel, what Chanel would have wanted? Is it really a statement? What happens when someone runs out of inspo?
