Hien Le Autumn/Winter 2013 at Berlin Fashion Week

Diligent design and accurate workmanship, carefully selected colour, order. It was July 2011 when Hien Le made his catwalk debut as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Only this time, for his AW13 collection, the Laos-born designer with the distinct minimalistic approach towards cuts dared to go a bit more liquid, a little bit more abstract. Inspired by Rothko’s transitional ‘multiform’ paintings, he showed gradient colour in marine blue, mauve, orange and sand tones that resemble those long anticipated breaks of morning light in a snowy, wintery landscape. Hien Le’s famous 2D-like creations are gaining a new volume, while the designer behind them is further establishing himself as the relevant fashion creative he has evolved into.
