Bryan Adams has proved to be able to express himself not only through music, but through his photographic lens as well. He has shot the portraits of multiple famous peers and friends of his, up to fashion editorials for some of the most coveted magazines. During the 4 past years, he has focused on capturing British weteran soldiers, who were wounded while in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Exhibition Wounded: the Legacy of War starts off today, November 12th at Somerset House, London and it is accompanied by the same-named print edition by edition Steidl. The exhibition comprises of 30 portraits, while the pages of the book host 100 photos of 40 wounded men. Canadian photographer, after journalist, Caroline Froggatt approached him, sets in such way his personal outcry against war and its atrocity. “I just thought I should try and be as honest with them as possible, because they were being honest with me.” says Adams and presents the subjects of his pictures smiling and remaining decent and proud.

“Looking at these guys and their injuries made me reflect on who I vote for, and their views on these incursions, as I’m not convinced it was all necessary. The most profound moment for me was talking to injured guys who had children but now didn’t know how to play with them because they didn’t have legs and couldn’t kick a football; it was really moving”.

The exhibition will be over on January, 25th, while the book is priced at £50. Proceeds will be donated to veteran charity organizations BLESMA, Blind Veterans UK, Combat Stress and SSAFA και War Child.
