SYNCHRODOGS: byzantine

Untitled-4

Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven became first involved with photography as amateurs in 2008. Today, after participating in a series of group and solo exhibitions and contributing in publications like Dazed & Confused, Vice and New York Magazine, the Ukrainebased photography duo publishes the most special moments of its career in its debut monograph entitled ‘Byzantine’.

Tania and Roman didn’t start as a duo; the time they spent together as a couple led in a natural way to the formation of Synchrodogs. This is how they first introduced themselves to us in an interview they gave after taking up an editorial photo shooting for a past issue of OZON Raw (May 2012).

The distinctive way they treat their subjects is reflected in every single shot, either that is a fashion editorial, or primitive landscapes of natural beauty. With simplicity and eccentricity emanating in their photos at the same time, the final result could only be described as authentic.

Their book entitled ‘Byzantine’ is expected to be released on March 13 and will be featuring the most striking moments of their photography career to date. Both the title and the images chosen are highly representative of the motives that acted as a source of wider inspiration for the photographers, placing mostly emphasis on Ukrainian and Byzantine tradition as well as local folk art.
