Τhe Royal New Zealand Ballet is known for its program, always interested in experimentation. This season’s program A Passing Cloud  is celebrating New Zealand and the Pacifica culture, and Greek dancer and choreographer Andonis Foniadakis is presenting one of his masterpieces.

The show Selon Désir was first presented in 2004 at the Geneva Ballet. The choreographer is using John Sebastion Bach’s St. Mathew Passion and St. John Passion as the musical background of his exploration of the contrast between the heavenly inspiration and the earthy energy, as expressed through mass movement.

Except for Foniadakis, the program also consists of Venezuelan’s Javier de Frutos’s The Anatomy of a Passing Cloud (2013), Newzealander Andrew Simmons’s Dear Horizon, and his compatriot Neil Ieremia’s Passchendaele (2009).

Selon Désir will be presentedat the Linbury Studio Theatre of London from November 17th, to November 21st.
