A festival promoting women in technology is being organised by the well-known electronic musician, Robyn. This one-day festival, called Tekla, will take place in KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The festival originated after Robyn was awarded KTH’s “Great Prize”, which honors “a person who, through epoch-making discoveries and the creation of new values and by ingenious applications of findings gained on the practical aspects of life, promotes Sweden’s continued material progress.” Robyn’s goal is to encourage young girls who might be intrigued about technology—a historically male-dominated industry. According to her interview in Pitchfork:

“Tekla is a festival for girls, in which they get to sample different areas of future technology in what I believe will be a fun and imaginative environment.”

Tekla is strictly for girls aged 11 to 18 and features motivational speakers, workshops on everything from 3D printing to electronic music and robotics, as well as a performance from Robyn.

Robyn is well known not only for her music career as well as for her caring character. Apart from organizing feministic events, such as Tekla, the musician has also been a part of UNICEF, as ambassador, dedicating 2 years of offering. As far as her music career is concerned, after her trilogy of mini-albums in 2010, called  Body Talk and her collaboration with Röyksopp, in music featured in their last and masterful album, Inevitable End, she informed us that she’sworking on new music stuff via her account on twitter.
