We often complain (and probably correctly) that Greek scene is devoid of groups able to stand with dignity both in our stereo as well as live. Joalz seem to be one of the few, moving towards the right direction. Monkshood, their new venture and second album -sixth release for greek Ntrop recs- is not the easiest to listen but definitely a very interesting one. In dark tones, with obvious ambient, kraut, noise, ever post references, Monkshood is a winner on the high production quality and the intriguing collaborations in many of its tracks. Joalz have presented examples of their work in various athenian venues and now the release of their new record gives us a good motive to listen more of them.
