Sotiris Georgiou Spring Summer 2010

IMG_0223

Fashion designer Sotiris Georgiou’s preliminary idea to invite us to the Diana Ippocratous theatre in order to present his Spring Summer Collection for 2010 sounded like an appealing idea. With a main source of inspiration that came from urban landscapes and architectural design, Georgiou, a beginning designer managed to persuade us with what he does best: geometric shapes. Interesting cuts, vertical lines, diagonals, horizontals, all went into a temptation to whisk us away to a futuristic universe that is also romantic. Models would walk onto the catwalk as robots, nothing like the classic steps of the traditional catwalk to translate the technocratic and calculated essence of our lives in the metropolis. With a main palette of grey, off-white, light blue (and a lack of black) Georgiou delivered frames of a stylish lifestyle. Unfortunately even though the intentions and designs were impressive the result when applied to the garments lacked. The menswear collection was much stronger with cotton trousers cut above the ankle and lovely Bermudas standing out.
