the MC1R series

Redheads, or else gingers, are a small percentage of the world’s population. It’s actually estimated to be one or two percent. Their fiery hair and freckles are attributed to the gene called Melanocortin 1 Receptor and Michelle Marshall’s new photographic project is named after that. As you must have already guessed, it explores the world of gingers around the world. They are not only white, pale and of German-Celtic descent, but this is not actually true.

The French-born photographer wants to change our opinion towards these people. They are not just Caucasian. Issues of immigration and prejudice are also unveiled in the photo series, emphasizing at the same time on the current world’s plurality and diversity.
