Lanvin Fall/Winter 2014 Campaign Celebrates the House’s125th Anniversary!

memo-lanvin08

House Lanvin is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a “family” campaign. Edie Campbell -who has already graced the Alexander McQueen campaign- and her family meet Tim Walker, who is replacing long-term Lanvin campaign photographer Steven Meisel, and the result is quite unexpected and different.

The British model, her sister Olympia, her mother -a former model and a well-known architect- Sophie Hicks, her grandmother Joan Hicks, her father Roddy, her brother Arthur, her grandfather Jeremy, her boyfriend -Bryan Ferry’s son- Otis Ferry, her sister’s boyfriend Matteo, even her horse Dolly; they are all shot in multiple ways in front of a white background. The campaign video includes only a door. And a really nice surprise in the end!

Born on January 1st, 1867, Jeanne Lanvin was the oldest of 11 children. At 16, she started working as an assistan of Madame Félix, while in 1899 she started working as a milliner at Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the street where every prestigious fashion house can be found in Paris. In 1897, 2 years after getting married to Emilio di Pietro, she gave birth to her only daughter, Marguerite, the reason why she started making clothes. Moreover, since 1909 she was officially a member of the Syndicat de la Couture. Her close relationship with her daughter can even be seen in the brand’s logo -a woman holding her child.

Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver have evolved the house during their presence as its head designers over the last years. It has turned into one of the most important names of the industry and despite the fact that this campaign does not excite everyone, the way the two designers manage to renew themselves every time, while remaining loyal to Jeanne Lanvin’s ethics, is noteworthy.
