Valley of Dolls: Replacing the ones gone

Nagoro, a small village lost in the valleys of Shikoku, Japan, where artist Ayano Tsukimi has replaced his old neighbors, friends and relatives that were gone with life sized dolls. These people have either moved to other cities or passed away. The dolls look like scarecrows. What is even more impressive is the actual population of the village. There are 35 people living there and over 350 dolls!

Fritz Schumann , a Berlin-based filmmaker, shot a rather interesting documentary of this weird story.
