Photographer reveals his neighbors’ intimate moments

Arne Svenson captures the intimate personal moments of his neighbors as revealed through the open curtains of their windows. The collection namely titled “The Neighbors” is an example of modern urban life’s limited privacy. The unsuspecting people have retreated into the intimacy of their personal space while still being exposed to others and reacting with them.

The self-taught photographer decided to step outside his studio and explore the everyday life of the people living near him in Manhattan. As he states he is “not photographing the people as specific, identifiable individuals, more as representations of human kind, of us. Careful not to reveal identities—the strength of the imagery lies in fact that we can see ourselves in the anonymous figures.”
