Inventory studio book catalogue for David Shrigley’s exhibition Brain Activity

This is a sample of photographs from a book/catalogue about David Shrigley’s exhibition ‘Brain Activity’ designed by David Lane and Robert Boon of Inventory studio. Τhe designers created a ‘book about David rather than by David’ in order to differentiate from other books that have already been published about Shrigley’s work and used a straight-faced design to deliver Shrigley’s humour.

The exhibition takes place in Hayward Gallery since February 1st and will end on May 13th. ‘Brain activity’ presents a full range of David Shrigley’s practice including photography, books, sculpture, animation, painting and music along with new artwork and site specific installations. David Shrigley, born in 1968 at Macclesfield, England is best known for his humorous and sarcastic drawings about everyday life. Shrigley’s work can be amusing and dark at the same time, his graphic style gives his work an immediate and accessible appeal while offering insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships.
