Documentary and travel photographer Andrew Newey captures through the lens of his camera the ancient art of honey hunting performed by the local tribes living in Nepal. By spending two weeks along with the Gurung tribe’s people, Newey managed to photograph the hunters who risk their lives in order to collect the honey fromm the Himalayan cliff sides. The skilled hunters hang from rope ladders and by using only wooden sticks which are called “tangos” they know they honeycombs off the rocks and into some baskets. Newey’s photographs give viewers the chance to get a sneak peak of the locals’ lives that are rarely published but also serve as a record of this ancient tradition which gradually dies.
