Today we celebrate 162 years from Antoni Gaudí’s birth. Gaudi was born in 25 June 1852. He was a Spanish Catalan architect and the best known practitioner of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí’s work was influenced by his major passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. Under the influence of neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, he introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials. Gaudí became part of the Modernista movement which was reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Gaudí’s work enjoys global popularity and admiration while it’s studied by architects and common people. The buildings he’s designed are officially global cultural monuments. Most of his creations are located in Barcelona. His masterpiece, the still-uncompleted Sagrada Família, is the most-visited monument in Spain.
