The Romanian artist Dan Cretu creates art out of the most unexpected materials. Sculptures made of food that we all consume in every daily life, such as a soccer ball created by seeds, a bicycle made of orange peels or a camera made of cucumber and tomato, are the colorful art pieces of the imaginative artist.
As he states: “All objects and things around us daily are possible subjects for me. The challenge is to transform a common object that we don’t notice anymore into something unusual, alive, and appealing.”
Because of the short shelf life of the materials, Cretu has to use his imagination and diligently create the desired sculpture in a very short time, before the food gets dry, lose their color and turn brown.
