We all remember Kevin Spacey infatuated with his teenage daughter’s best friend, Angela, portrayed by Mena Suvari, for Sam Mendes‘ “American Beauty“. That scene where the young girl is laying on a bed or red roses is one of the most memorable movie scenes ever. And the film is a great representation of America’s middle class notions of beauty, happiness, family.
Carey Fruth wants to redefine though, what we all think of that. She is photographing women of all colors and shapes on beds of purple flower petals, wanting to show that beauty has nothing to do with all that. The expression “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” could not be more accurate, to be honest.
