Uganda is one of the worst places in the world for a child. In the south poverty and diseases make their life miserable while in the north a brutal and mindless war splits their families and takes away the people they love. The situation leads to a serious deterioration of culture.
Bouncing Cats is the narration of a man’s desire and effort to improve the lives of these children using hip-hop, του breakdance και του b-boy culture. Abraham “Abramz” Tekya, a child of Uganda himself, creates Breakdance Project Uganda (B.P.U.) with the dream of empowering and making stronger his fellows by teaching them for free the b-boy culture. He managed to gather 300 pupils from all over the country, homeless and penniless walk loads of miles to attend their ‘lessons’. Abramz says, ‘This is where many people’s pride is. It’s a skill that no one can take away from us.’. Crazy Legs, funding member of Rock Steady Crew, visits Uganda with the invitation of Abramz and they give together b-boy lessons. Bouncing Cats follows them in a journey that uses the hip-hop culture as a mean of culture and peace. The documentary film features narration by Common and interview of Mos Def, Will.I.Am, and K’Naan.
