Korallreven, Julianna Barwick and Elite Gymnastics. Three names who represent some of the best artists of contemporary dream-pop, electronic-pop and new age, collaborate resulting to one of the most interesting tracks released so far this year. “Sa Sa Samoa”, the second single from the recent album of Korallreven, is originally a tribal-pop masterpiece featuring Julianna Barwick on vocals, which was released last month accompanied by a beautiful music video that you can watch here. Elite Gymnastics made a rework of this song, while they also directed a video clip for it, which was published a couple of days ago at their vimeo channel. Using jungle breakbeats and a vocal sample of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, they transformed “Sa Sa Samoa” into a modern rave anthem with an accompanying visual of retro computer graphics and an old footage from rave culture’s late-80s/early-90s heyday. Hardcore will never die!
