Halcyon Selects: Sigur Rós – Ég Anda

Sigur Rós released their sixth studio album titled “Valtari” on May 29, adding one more little ambient post-rock masterpiece in their discography. This time, the release of the album is accompanied by the lunch of a very interesting promo project, that the group named “The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment”. The band chose 12 notable filmmakers and giving them the same modest budget, asked them to create whatever comes to their head when they listen to songs from their new album and the general idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom . Among 12 filmmakers working on this project someone can find names of some great directors such as John Cameron MitchellAlma Har’elRamin BahraniArni & Kinski, but also the famous photographer Ryan McGinley. Every two weeks, a new video will be published on the project’s official website, while the start was made a couple of days ago by Ragnar Kjartansson with his music video for the song Ég anda (I Breathe).
