On January the 16th, Zegna celebrated in Milan its centennial year with a show, presenting the Autumn/Winter 2010 colection. In the collection, monochromatic colours inspired by nature, such as blue of clear skies, green of pristine forests and grey of mountain stones, state the profound relationship between Man and Nature. A mix of materials follows, including cashmere, beautiful ‘Cashco’ velvets, microfibres, sheepskin and shearling coats. Suits are designed to highlight the body shape and a sporting and nonchalant look is created through the mixing of different garments, like the new hybrid jackets, or fabrics combined with denims and cashmere sweaters. The outcome is a sophisticated elegance with a seemingly informal look.
Three days later, came the presentation of the A/W 2010 Z Zegna collection, where the future and the present collide with man at the centre. A contemporary wardrobe blueprint is de-constructed and the new man is re-invented through pure and luxe fabrics, double-faced wools, raw denim, heavy suede, and leather, in a palette of urban greys, brick, chocolate and denim blue. “The re-structured man takes over the central stage, uniting design, function, feel and style”, as stated by Alessandro Sartori, Creative Director of Z Zegna.
