It is official. Marc Jacobs is leaving LV after 16 years. For his last show for Louis Vuitton, MJ presented a rather dark collection before stepping down from the Creative Director chair.
A macabre setting, all black, dramatic, eerie and full of feathers- was his way of saying goodbye. Not only the colours and the set, but the atmosphere as well, signaled his departure from the high fashion house.
The show was a tribute to the designers’ most popular hits and scenes– elevators, escalators, fountains and the Louis Vuitton clock. Everything was reinvented in black. The clothes were mesmerizing. Edie Campbell opened the show wearing a sheer, transparent look covered in glittery Stephen Sprouse logos. Black chiffon dresses embellished with semi-precious stones and feathered trains were the highlight. We loved the cropped military jackets as well as the denim elements that broke the “black” sequence.
We saw baseball jerseys, tuxedos, motorcycle jackets and tank tops embroidered and sequined.
Marc Jacobs’ last show for Louis Vuitton will be a cornerstone for any reference to the fashion house. Watch the entire show here:
