With a unique blend of artistic methods, Czech photographer Michal Macku has created a series of gripping manipulated images that painfully self-loathing and despair. The technique used to create these images is called “gellage” (a combination of gelatin and collage) and it involves transferring the photographs onto a transparent gelatin substance that can then be manipulated and reshaped physically. Michal, who mostly uses his own nude body to create the images, had this to say about hiw work: “Through the photographic process -of gellage-, this concrete human body is compelled to meet with abstract surroundings and distortions. This connections is most exciting for me and helps me to find new levels of humanness in the resulting work.”
