Photographers Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher captured the daily lives of the Dinka tribe’s people living in the South Sudan. For the native people, the herding cattle is their lifestyle and a part of their identity. Actually, the young Dinka men at their coming of age ceremony get an ox whose name is becoming a part of their own name.
The two photographers though their collection try to preserve these sacred tribal ceremonies and African cultural traditions all too vulnerable to the trends of modernity and are rapidly disappearing.
Their images are quite captivating. The natural landscapes combined with the sunlight and the animals’ and peoples’ figures create an atmospheric result which is really majestic and charming.
