From the beginning of cinema and even television, our eyes are used in watching videos horizontally. Nowadays, with the mass consolidation of smartphones in our lives the taking and watching video vertically is starting to spread. Off course, the photographic “Vertical Video Syndrome” is not harmful for the user nor the viewer but it causes very unsightly results.
An end to this bad habit can be put by the new iOS application “Horizon” which is created by the Greek development studio Evil Window Dog. The App operates the device’s gyroscope allowing horizontal video capture no matter how the user holds the device. This way, even if the smartphone is upright, sideways or rotating, the camera can record videos horizontally. Moreover, the user can choose from four different ratios and eight filters.
