Underwater photography helps cancer survivors

4

San Francisco based photographer Erena Shimoda, captures ethereal portraits starring people who have defeated cancer.

As she states: “In the water, people rediscover their beauty, strength and capability”. She has been scuba diving for ten years and believes that water has healing properties that can help people who have undergone arduous medical procedures such as mastectomy and chemotherapy regain their strength and self confidence.

Through IndieGoGo, the photographer has created a campaign named “About Face” in order to raise the amount of money needed so that 10 more people from California can have their own underwater portrait.
