Australian architecture firm Room11 has built a hybrid courtyard house in Port Arthur, Tazmania, inspired by the idea of deconstructed farmhouses. Designed around the stunning views of the Tasman Island and the Southern Ocean beyond, the “Lookout House” gets defined for its three-section set-up, acompanied by three gable roof extrusions. This extruded multi-gable form defines particular functions within and, in turn, each has an individual relationship to the courtyard and its specific views to the surrounding landscape. Having used mainly wood, glass and metall, the architects designed luminus spaces, well-adjusted to the landscape.
