SoundCloud is a digital audio platform that had 250 million monthly users in October last year, five times more than the 50 million members they had a year ago. Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss founded Soundcloud in Berlin in 2007, extending their “reign” to San Francisco, New York, London and Sofia.
The team moved into their new global headquarters in Berlin, only a few days ago. It’s a 4,000 square-meter, three storey building formely used as a brewery, which employs 180 people, but has a maximum capacity to hold 350 desks. Kelly Robinson is the Berlin-based interior designer signed to KINZO, who’s responsible for the industrial and minimal looks of the new offices.
“Home is where our music’s playing,” is Soundcloud’s moto, therefore the headquarters are equipped with top-of-the-line AV gadgets plus a recording studio for employees and their community free to use for personal projects. Photobooths and vinyl record players pop, a wood burning stove, a library, a yoga studio, kitchen sounds like the place where they can “all learn, collaborate, and share knowledge,” according to their blog.
