Tickets for the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts went on sale and sold out within an hour
Tickets for the summer festival, due to take place from 21-25th June next year, went on sale at 9am Sunday 9th October with all available tickets sold by 9.50am. Coach packages which included access to the festival also sold out on Thursday evening in 23 minutes.
There have been numerous grievances voiced on Twitter of website difficulties via Glastonbury’s official ticket partner SeeTickets, with the site crashing and unable to load.
The price of a ticket this year is £238 with a £5 booking fee for access to the site, estimated at around 900 acres with 3,000 acts over 100 stages. However, festival goers are expected to pay only a £50 deposit today, with the remainder paid in the spring. Current rumours of headline acts for 2017 are Guns N Roses, the Stones Roses, and Radiohead. The confirmed acts are announced in April, when the lucky few who bought tickets are expected to pay the rest of their ticket balance.
A ticket resale will be held in the spring for any tickets not paid for. There are also opportunities to volunteer at the festival for those who wish to attend but were unable to get a ticket.
The festival will take its traditional fallow year in 2018, meaning there will be no festival held that summer in order to let the farmland recuperate and give the festival’s staff and organisers a year off.
