This year’s revelation for those preferring a tougher more rhythmic and instinctive sound. L-Vis 1990 steps on tribal house sounds, minimal techno, baile funk, hip hop and 2 step and becomes the epitome of an artist whose music is danced by everyone; from the traditional ravey club kids to the fans of dubstep and the kids in buggy trousers who swear by Dizee Rascal. Diplo rushed to sign him to the great Mad Decent records, while each and every release and remix draws the attention of both public and djs. L-Vis himself together with his brotherly friend Bok Bok, a tougher sounding musician, have managed to create a mini-scene that a few djs (such as the resident dj of Girlcore and Tropicalia parties, Isa GT) call UK Funky. It doesn’t sound too bad for James Connolly from Dalston London who only a few months ago, didn’t even have an agent.
