Last season, in response to the outbreak of North West in the presentation of Kanye West, Yeezy, Anna Wintour reportedly lobbied to ban babies at fashion week during the show.
Today, not only are babies front row observers, but they have been spotted modelling for a select group of New York designers’ NYFW shows and presentations such as Vaquera, Vejas, Eckhaus Latta and Gypsy Sport who believe that babies and pregnants symbolize family and reflect the necessity of friendship.
Karl Lagerfeld and Dolce & Gabbana have also used children and pregnant women for their shows and declare that casting a child or a pregnant woman is a way to demonstrate their disregard for the standards of the industry, and their desire to stand out.
