Thom Browne sent his models down the Paris Fashion Week runways presenting another groundbreaking collection. We did not expect anything less from a designer who dares and successfully manages to carve his own path off the usual track, by making his own little catwalk history every season. Colour, prints, brocades, strict lines, vinyl, pvc, leather and vintage references, were highlighted with aviator sunglasses and red lipstick. Combining traditional patterns and concepts of masculinity, the collection attempts to mix classic military looks based on the original Gestapo uniform with feminine silhouettes. Accessories including military and naval brimmed hats with feathers; white gloves and white socks lace, transport us to another time by adding a romantic touch to the geometric rigor. Browne manages to balance the tough image of the military style he chose, with an eccentric twist, featuring textures and chic haute couture techniques that stand out on shiny fabrics and sharp monochrome or color blocking pieces. There is an undeniable charm to these stylishly “deranged” soldiers…
