“Style is eternal, fashion fades” the great designer had stated in an interview and inspired the title of the brand’s latest exhibition.
However, this time, the exhibition does not take place in Paris as usual but in England and more specifically Bowes museum which is housed in a French style chateau of the 19th century in the small market town of Barnard Castle in County Durham. The exhibition consists of more than 50 iconic and famous designer’s clothes like the Mondrian dresses and tuxedos which are not accompanied only by fabrics and sketches but also extensive descriptions and sources of his inspiration.
The exhibition is organized with the help of designer’s former partner Pierre Berge, who is committed to promoting the work of Yves Saint Laurent at an international level, and therefore is extremely excited to work on this first exhibition in the United Kingdom.
Joanna Hashagen, fashion curator in Bowes, described the exhibition as one of the greatest moments in the history of the museum and invites the public to attend Style Is Eternal from July 11 until Octomber 25.
