Two student artist from Musashino Art University in Japan, took pictures of different couples using X-Ray machines. The results are not only fantastic but also unique!
Saiko Kanda and Mayuka Hayashi used CT scans and X-Ray machines in order to photograph couples within very close proximity. When you see the skeletons they seem really cold and lonely but in reality the human bodies are really close to each other and the couples are experiencing personal intimacy. All these raw photographs show the human body as muscles and bones and the lack of soft skin doesn’t allow the viewer to have the normal view of human touch.
Through gestures and body language the viewers can examine and also explain the relationships between the couples they watch in the photographs. The student artists mention “X-ray images usually show the finite nature of our bodies composed only of matter. But these couples’ portraits reveal a pulse that isn’t normally seen” .
