“Rainbow Gatherings” captured by Benoit Paillé

Canadian photographer Benoit Paillé documents through his camera’s lens the daily lives of the people in the “Rainbow Gatherings”. These temporary intentional communities share common beliefs and practice ideas of peace, love, harmony, freedom and community, while presenting an alternative to the mainstream popular culture, consumerism, capitalism and mass media.

Paille says about his experience of his first “Rainbow Gathering”: “You return from a Rainbow with ideas, ideas for changing your life. Personally, I’ve never felt comfortable with the life I was living, and I questioned it… We discover that it is possible to be happy living another way. I particularly realized the importance of taking care of my body, of eating better, of taking better care of the environment. Οf being able to get rid of your addiction to technology and to the Internet. When you come back, you appreciate comfort again, but you quickly want to go back and to see again the people you’ve met, the people you love.”
