This new app can make you trip. Like LSD trip

With anxiety and stress at a peak during this one year of the pandemic, we are trying to find ways to relax. Some prefer tea, some a book, a movie or even exercise and walking and some prefer meditation.

The latter group is the target group for the new app that promises to assist with meditating techniques and relaxation. The app is called Lumenate: The Psychedelic Meditation App and it does what it promises… sort of.

The British creators say it can help “guide your brain into a unique and powerful altered state of consciousness between that of deep meditation and classic psychedelics.” You understood correctly. This is not your ordinary way of meditating, but a unique way that simulates tripping; meaning vivid colors taking shapes and moving to the sound of music.

The creators add that they are “on a mission to make impactful subconscious exploration more accessible than ever before”. Also, there have been studies behind the whole project. With interviews and months of EEG brain scans, they have been constantly trying to improve the app for the best results and their method includes “altered-states using light and sound”.

What you need for this peculiar meditation to work is a dark, silent place, a pair of headphones, and your phone of course. Download the app and create an account. Then the journey begins. Low music, a voice guiding you, and flashing lights will stimulate your brain to start tripping.

According to the creators, it is a safe app to use and it doesn’t hide any dangers. Will it help our anxiety? Let’s see.
