The latest building to have a vertical garden installed is a five-storey block in the City of Light, Paris. Made with over 7,500 plants, the “green wall” is 25-meters high and was designed by living wall inventor Patrick Blanc. The plant installation is called L’Oasis D’Aboukir (The Oasis of Aboukir) and includes plants from 237 different species, planted in diagonal waves. Blanc said “I am very happy to contribute to the welfare and environmental consciousness of the inhabitants of a historic district in the heart of Paris.” The piece coincides with Paris Design Week which runs from 9 to 15 September, 2013.
