Drawing inspiration from the ancient Metawai tribe, DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGERS’s A/W 12 collection manages to retain its distinctive style whilst ever growing. Berlin-based designer Jen Gilpin, chose the Metawai for their tradition of practicing sacred tattooing, in order to beautify the body and ensure immortality as the soul will flee a bland body. In homage to this belief, DSTM created shapes, patterns and modern lines inspired by the Metawai’s signature tattoos using the finest materials such as silk, leather, feathers, cashmere, wool and modals in a range of black, creams, gold, teal and midnight blue.
