Kansai Yamamoto is one of the most important Japanese designers of the ’80s. He studied to become a construction engineer but turned into fashion. He uses the traditional kimono as a basic canvas, which he reinvented, giving it a more contemporary look. After 42 years of absence from the catwalks of London, he made a grand return this year, showcasing an exquisite collection for the ‘’Fashion in Motion’’ exhibition that was held in the Victoria & Albert Museum. His unique theatrical kimonos are complimented by imposing music selections, that make his fashion shows even more appealing.
