Time Magazine is trying to gain a pinch of success, not by charting a list this time, but by making their fourth annual word banishment poll, in which they are asking readers to vote another word that they want not to hear it again in 2015. Somewhere between all the words and phrases Times proposed for the poll list, we can spot “feminist” which looks like winning the poll, which ends in November 19th.
Lately, Karl Lagerfeld staged a feminist revolution in Paris Fashion Week. Nevertheless, Times chose that word considering -as they reported- “You have nothing against feminism itself, but when did it become a thing that every celebrity had to state their position on whether this word applies to them, like some politician declaring a party? Let’s stick to the issues and quit throwing this label around like ticker tape at a Susan B. Anthony parade”. There is an explanation why they chose “feminist”, the fact that they did chose it for the list and further more, the fact that “feminist” is going to win, made true feminists furious about Time Magazine. Of course which is a better place than twitter to start a war, so they did. Same is the best advertising, they say.
