The alpine landscape and the experience of mountain life is much closer than Switzerland. We discovered it 235 km from Athens, at the entrance of the dreamy village of Pavliani, at an altitude of 1100 meters. We arrived late at night just after we left the lights of Lamia below us, and climbed in zigzag up the route of Mount Oiti. The host of the farm with the cowboy hat, Stavros, and his family gave us a warm welcome.
A few minutes later I was happily surprised. This space capsule of my dreams, an original American Airstream, would become my home for the next two days. It was not only its futuristic vintage design but also the small details and amenities inside that made me stay awake just to enjoy the sight of this gem before going to sleep. The morning after I opened my eyes and was left speechless with the alpine paradise in front of me, a paradise found just two hours from Athens.
I enjoyed my fine breakfast next to the oversized statue of a bear and then visited the nearby leisure park with the inspired name «Parkaki». It proved to be the most fun place for nature lovers who have a good sense of humor. I took some deep breaths full of oxygen, and followed the paths revealing numerous naturist surprises. I spent my evening at the Country House of the farm, just by the fireplace.
We all chatted, laughed and appreciated the genuine value that only of group of friends can create. I simply came to realize that it is only at 1100 meters that someone can feel really free from time restrictions and happy with authentic and hops
