A teaser trailer for the third series of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks has been released. The trailer features members of the ensemble cast discussing the filming of the series behind the scenes, generating a buzz around the reprise of the classic series to be aired early next year.
David Lynch and Mark Frost announced in 2014 they would be returning to work on the surrealistic soap opera drama, twenty-five years after the second series ended. The producers have made it clear that the new series will not be a remake or a reboot but a continuation of the original series. The majority of the original cast will return, as featured in the teaser trailer.
Twin Peaks has enjoyed a cult status with a dedicated fan base since its first series. The third season has completed filming and is expected to be released in the first half of 2017. There were rumours that David Bowie was expected to play a role in the upcoming episodes, but Lynch and Frost were forced to rewrite his character after his passing earlier this year.
